My new fork of PCSX2 makes 1.6.0 compatible with Windows XP

Hello PCSX2 community, i have been working on a big project for me these last months, and you're read it on the title: I've forked/modified the latest version of PCSX2, v1.6.0 released in May 2020, to make it work again under the Windows XP operating system, as the official support by the developers was dropped back in Mar 2016.

I still have intestest with Windows XP, so i started researching the code and to consider the options i had to make it compatible again. What i did is, modify first the older versions to make them work, and keep advancing to newer and newer versions until i reached the May 2020 version. Wasn't an easy task at all, as there was four years of development beween the two stable versions (v1.4.0 and v.1.6.0). Well to sum up, after lots of patience and dedication, i reached my goal. my v1.6.0 version is up and running perfectly fine under XP.

I've tried to make the code as original as possible, so only 23 commit reverts were done to recover the compatibility. Also, the DirectX side of GSDx had to go, as the dx9 renderer was long removed and dx11 isn't compatible with xp. I can tell you many more details about the development if this project is well received under this forum community. This project is not affiliated with the official PCSX2 developers, but i totally respect them and they are the ones to really credit for how an awesome emulator they're making.

Unusual slowdown on Linux Mint 20

Hi there, I'm having trouble running games at a full 60fps on Linux Mint using PCSX2's unstable builds. They usually run at 45-55 FPS, whereas if PCSX2 was running on Windows 10 on the same PC, it'll get the full 59-60fps.

Am I missing anything? I installed PCSX2 through the usual PPA on Mint though.

Issue with Radiata Stories

Hello, I've played the game fine for about 7 hours of playtime with no issues at all. I'm going to go enter a room I need to enter to turn in a quest, but every time I do I just sit at a black screen with the music still playing but can't do anything. Have restarted multiple times, booted fast and full. I saw somewhere to try the automatic game fixes or do it manually through config, but both of those are greyed out and I can't click them at all so I'm kind of at a loss. I get no errors or anything in the logs at all as well.

I am using the official 1.6.0 release of PCSX2 and I'm having problems with the FMV cutscenes in Yakuza 1, the video plays, but the audio for the cutscenes don't work and I've tested with and without hacks, can anyone help?

CPU options: EE/IOP defaults, VUs defaults and GS default
Plugins used: GSdx (MSVC 19.25 SSE4.1/AVX) 1.2.0 [GSdx32-SSE4], SPU2-X 2.0.0 [Spu2-x]

Trying to get Armored Core 2 running smoothly

I've been looking into forums and threads here and elsewhere regarding running Armored Core 2 smoothly. Currently the best I can manage is about 75% speed with the following configurations and hardware. I haven't found a post on the series newer than 2015 and am hoping someone somewhere has made some progress.

I have tried hardware and software modes, Open GL and Dx11, messing with hacks, threads, a few other settings such as the 8bit textures and texture filtering. So far nothing has beaten DX11 Hardware mode, and iv only been testing with native resolution (though bumping it up to 3x doesn't seem to make much a difference) and in a single 1v1 arena which is a relatively light weight environment. (edit: The GS has consistently been the limiting factor if im understanding the readouts correctly.)

pnach file causing in-game crashes (SMT: Nocturne)

I'm currently playing Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne and am experiencing problems after applying pnach files.

This is what's in the pnach:

I am getting somewhat frequent crashes. For example, I found that what happens before the crash is I would exit a save point and my model would turn invisible, then if I re-entered the save point, the game wouldn't load and stay frozen on a black screen. A few seconds later the console outputs repeatedly:

 This was temporarily fixed when I changed "word" to "extended", but the crashes would then happen every 20 minutes or so.

Time Crisis 3 help required!

First, I always wanted to play Time Crisis 3 for years. It becomes one of my childhood game since I'm at very young. I been figured the settings for the game and PCSX2 for a long times but it still doesn't fix the problem.

Here my specs:
Motherboard: Asrock A320M-HDV R4.0
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHZ
RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 8GB 2666Mhz x 1
GPU: PowerColor Red Dragon RX 570 4GB
Running at PCSX2 1.6.0 and OpenGL(Hardware)

The problems I had:
1.) The screen of the game is black, no sound no image just black screen when EE Cyclerate go above 0.
2.) The cinematic/cutscenes of the game is quite laggy and the sound doesn't synchronize.
3.) The game and cinematic/cutscenes also go too slow or go too fast either I disabled and enabled Framelimiter.
4.) The speed of the game and cinematic/cutscenes doesn't synchronize and laggy, the sound also messed up.Even though I set EE Cyclerate to -3 or -2 or -1 it still doesn't work or fix any problems I'm having.

Please, I wanted to play the game so bad, I did all the research I searched but none of the solution will work. Really wish anyone all of you could help me, I beg anyone of you.

God of war 2 weird lines

with some hack i removed almost all upscaling issues but i still have those weird lines that follow me on the ground and on the walls . no change if i use opengl. Is there any solution for this?

Kingdom Hearts 2 Sonicshadowsilver2's boss randomizer pnach file?

Has anyone got or know a guide that can help me install a pnach version of Sonicshadowsilver's boss randomizer codes? I would use Emuhaste but apparently it's malware and not the proper way to mod Kingdom Hearts 2. I roughly know that I need to convert the codes to raw format and put it into a pnach converter but the codes provided on this site and his pastebin have missing characters in them (which are the question marks). Help would be appreciated.

SSX and SSX Tricky have major graphics issues as of latest 1.7.0 build

As of the latest 1.7.0 build, SSX and SSX Tricky have major graphical issues that weren't there before.  Large patches of terrain are always missing depending on the camera angle.  Switching to Software rendering doesn't fix it.  The first screenshot shows SSX running on 1.6.0, and the second screenshot shows 1.7.0 with the same exact settings.  SSX Tricky runs on the same engine and has the same issue.  SSX 3's engine got an update and isn't affected by this.  I asked a friend to test this and he got the same issues despite our PC specs being very different.

Something broke.

Hello, my name is Jordi, I just downloaded DQ8 to emulate it on my pc, the problem is that the game slows down in many parts, making the game somewhat heavy, especially because its beautiful music is seriously affected. I am doing something wrong? Can't emulate this game? I hope you can help me, I leave the information of my pc.

Game crashing on Batocera but not Windows

Hi

I'm running Gran Turismo 4 on Batocera (as emulated by PCSX2), and after getting into in-game play, the game would often crash within about 5 minutes or so (game hangs, some stuttering, or black screen).

However if I run it on PCSX in Windows, this does happen.

I do note the two machines running in Batocera and Windows are different, though I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem. Can post specs of the machines if relevant.

Greetings!
I have a question, maybe it's a dumb one, but I couldn't find any information about it on the web. I want to change the GSdx hotkeys, specifically these 4:

# PAGE_UP - FXAA antialiasing (HW and SW)
# DELETE - Software Antialiasing (AA1)
# HOME - FX shader
# INSERT - Software mipmapping

I've read that if you rename the file PCSX2_keys.ini.default to PCSX2_keys.ini and place it on your PCSX2's inis folder you can do it, but the thing is I don't know the parameters I should write before the hotkey. I.e., the program uses the following instruction to take a snapshot:

Sys_TakeSnapshot                  = F8

What would the equivalent of "Sys_TakeSnapshot" for the 4 above. Maybe writing something like:

GSdx_FXAAAntialiasing           = CTRL-PGUP
GSdx_SoftwareAntialiasing    = CTRL-DELETE
GSdx_FXShader                        = CTRL-HOME
GSdx_SoftwareMipmapping   = CTRL-INSERT

But I don't know the exact commands. So, if anyone has done this or know how to do this, and want to give me a hand, I'll be more than grateful. Thank you in advance! Smile

Hi!

I played Silent Hill 2 in PCSX2 and completed the sub scenario of Maria several times. Only in my first save I achieved 2:06 hours, 0 damage and 46 items collected. I was making a map by myself and then compared it to maps made by other walkthroughs. My surprise is that every guide that I checked, and my own map guide, only count 41 items. I replayed the game from zero, no maps even mine, and every time I get again and only 41 items

Is it possible to check in the file of the memory card what files were picked up? I want to know how I could get 46 items the first time

I posted this in reddit too; but somone kindly shared some tools; but to be honest, I don't have any idea of how to use them or what to do

I wanted to post this thread because it's a problem that I've been having for an awful while, and not enough information is available for it. I've only gotten PCSX2 just a few days ago, and the first day that I used it, it worked perfectly. I had all the buttons configured, and even though there were some graphical slowdowns and speedups, my games were easily playable. However, recently, I've had a huge problem with my games. The menus seem to move by themselves if they're horizontal (left-to-right), and characters only seem to move to the left. I'm using a DualShock 4 controller, and I've tried reconfiguring the left stick so that it only applies to X Axis - when it moved left, not the entire X axis as I recall one thread mentioned. For some reason, the controller acts normally when I press R2, so that might be part of it. Can anyone please help me with this issue? My old PS2 doesn't function as well as it used to, and I really want to revisit my old games.

Speed-hacks is on 60% CPU-Speed .
When game is running CPU-Speed is on 100-106 %, but after randomly time the going on 50% again.
After i go back in the main manue and load the saved Game the  CPU is runing on 100-106%.
I think that anything crashes in the speed hacks, because in the time when runing agian on 50%, i can change speedhacks no matter how, result no changing on running game.
No errors in the log file.

Is it posible that the speed hacks desable onself or by pcsx2?

hello i just downloaded pcsx2 when i came to play the games kept crashing multiple games i installed the portable version i also checked to have installed visual c++ 2015-2019 i have it now it crashes on multiple games the game starts sometimes it gets to the main menu before crashing.. anyone knows what might be the cause? Sad Sad Sad all my configs are on default since i just installed it

Fatal Frame 1 graphic glitches

I keep having this issue on hardware mode where sometimes when I take a photo, the image of the photo stays overlayed over certain cutscenes and appears where transparent textures should be and sometimes the recently taken image appears for a split second after bringing up the viewfinder. here's some example photos:

I suspect this is some sort of texture caching issue but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else online so I'm guessing this means the fix is really simply or really complex. here are my settings.
