Problem Generating Monsters MR3

Monster Rancher 3 problem

So, I've tried multiple ways to generate monsters but they all keep failing.

First, I tried using ps2 roms but iso files, which make up the majority, keep confusing the application, asking if I want to make a monster from the Monster Rancher 3 disc. Of course, that only generates one kind of monster: a mochi.

I tried burning fake cds using random text. I get mochi.

I tried using ps1 roms/cds, it immediately exits, yelling about how it isn't designed to play PS1 games.

I tried using a CD coming from a pc game. I get mochi.

The only reason I have any hope at all is that I managed to get a Hengar from one of the PS2 files that was a bin file.

Any ideas?

Black Screen when switching to dedicated GPU

I have been having problems with PCSX2 when switching from my integrated GPU to my dedicated GPU on my laptop.

My laptop is an Acer Swift SF314-52G
Specs:
CPU : Intel Core i5-8250U
Ram: 8GB
Integrated GPU : Intel UHD 620
Dedicated GPU : Nvidia MX150

I noticed that the games tend to work OK using the intel dedicated GPU but whenever i switch to my MX150, the screen turns black but the odd thing is the game is still actually running. Control inputs still work, I found this out as the game I would play would play the audio of the buttons i was pressing on my controller.

For my video plugin settings I usually use Direct 3D11 (hardware) and set the internal resolution to 2x (~720p)

I would like to make use of my dedicated GPU as sometimes the integrated GPU is abit too slow and cant run the games that I want to play. Can anyone help me diagnose the problem?

Giant Clank initialisation/load bug Ratchet and Clank 2 NTSC

Hello,

I've come across an issue which I don't think anyone has reported yet. On the planet Dobbo, after meeting with the Mathematician for the first time, there is an error which fails to initialise the level. Here is the error log in emuLog.txt:

And so it goes until the emulator either stops functioning, crashing. The frame counter will continually drop until the game crashes, don't know if that is relevant. There was a pop-up that occured as the issue arose but I failed to capture it and it won't reappear. Any help would be appreciated.

Logitech G29 Driving Force doesn't work (USBQemu)

I'm trying to get Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec to work on PCSX2 with my Logitech G29 Driving Force Steering Wheel. Unfortunately, even though I can map controls without a hitch, the game itself refuses to respond. I have used one of the newest versions of USBQemu and even tested the Controls, but I still end up stuck at the Choose a Language screen where X is supposed to be pressed.

I even resorted to mapping my Steering Wheel to a NeGcon Controller, in case Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec & Gran Turismo 4 supported those. That didn't work, either. I've tried USBQemu with both Driving Force & GT Force settings, all of it without use.

Can anyone please help me out with this?

Game Freeze

Having some issues running an old game - ATV Offroad Fury 4. Upon entering the career mode the game seems to freeze on a specific frame. The wiki showed a couple people had this issue before as well but after trying some common fixes I wasn't able to get a solution. Anyone able to look into this? Thanks!

Is memory handled differently in the 1.7.0 builds?

I'm part of a modding community, and we have a massive spreadsheet containing hundreds of memory addresses for many important functions throughout the Sly Cooper games.  After downloading the latest 1.7.0 development build, suddenly none of our documented memory addresses pointed to anything anymore.  I went back to an older version again, and all of our documented memory addresses started working again.

It's taken us years to document what we've done so far, and it seems like we'll have to re-find everything because something in PCSX2 handles memory differently now.  For example, the amount of collected coins used to be stored at 0x20304A04 in memory, but in the latest 1.7.0 build it's stored at 0x30304A04.  This looks to be just 10000000 further which is an easy fix for our spreadsheet, but I don't think it's that simple.

What happened?  Why did memory change in this way?  Is this intentional?  We need details, I'm glad I realized this now and not when we actually needed to do something productive.

PS2 bios browser problem 1.60

I needed to delete some saves from my memcard so I went into my PS2 browser (by selecting no disc and choosing bios).

The problem is there is no text to choose from...where it should say "browser" or "system configuration" it is blank. At the bottom where it should say "enter" or "version" the button icons appear (X + triangle) but no text.

So I fired up my PCSX2 version 1.40 and did the same thing and it works perfectly.

I was going to post images but it seems I can't post images from my hard drive (or I don't know the trick).

EDIT: I created an account with ImgBB but I can't figure out how to get my images to show up here lol. If anyone can explain the steps I would be grateful.

Controller not working correctly

First off I'm using a Bluetooth/USB Gamepad, Lillypad doesn't (and won't) work as it sees L3, R3, Cross, Circle, Triangle, Square, Start and Select as the same button. Pokopom won't work because it is XInput and my controller is DX. SSSPSX 1.7.1 Analog mod works somewhat.  It lets me map out all the buttons but requires me to hold down R2 or it won't register button presses.  How can I get a working Direct X gamepad plugin?  Should I just use Joy2Key?

Weird Sly 2 performance issues

OK, so I just played Sly 1 through all the way at 1080p, d3d11 hardware, and otherwise default settings with no slow downs. Here I am trying to play sly 2, using the safe room in the first world as a benchmark, and I can't get the FPS to go over 46. It won't go much below that, either. I've tried changing the resolution all the way from 256x256 to 8x native resolution and the framerate was actually about 4 frames better at 8x native?? Is this normal? I've never seen a game care so little about what resolution I set it to. I tried setting sly 1 to 256x256 out of curiosity and my framerate uncapped went from 75 to 120.

I've tried messing with speedhacks too and the only way I can get it at 60 is cranking them all until it's unplayable. Sly 3 runs only slightly better. I would just write it off as the games being intensive, but there are people on the pcsx2 wiki that claim sly 2 ran fine with specs nowhere near as good as mine. I feel like there's some specific setting or fix I'm missing, or something I messed up. As far as I'm aware I haven't forgotten about any settings that I changed.

Trying to play JakX but no matter what i do some textures just go wierd in some adventure missions. Texture issues being: green tires when driving, finnish line textures pixilated until your up close to it, shadows are messed up on some maps, cars kinda pixely when in a shaded area, wierd brown lines on the hud, and the arrow when you get a kill is messed up. Ive tryed plenty of different customization options and have watched many videos on how to set up jak X combat racing properly but no matter what i always get the above issues.

Black Screen on Startup

I installed version 1.6.0 and cant seem to get any games running. My laptop specs are not great so I realize that could be the issue. The startup screen runs at 60 fps if i do a full boot. I've been doing fast boot as well and it just crashes right away. Then the screen goes black and everything closes out. I am running mostly default settings although I've tried removing speedhacks and tried cycling through the GS plugins in an attempt to get it to work. I just uninstalled it and reinstalled a clean version 1.6.0 and am getting the same issue. I am not super tech savvy but happy to share screenshots or whatever is helpful. I've tried high demand games Jak & Dexter and low demand games Tekken 5 with the same result. Running at native. Running an ISO.

I feel like the issue is probably simple and I am doing something stupid, would appreciate any help since im new to all this.

MGS3 Missing Control Functionality

Not sure how to best articulate the issue in the title so that people will know what I mean. Essentially the issue is that when entering first person view you can lean left by pressing L2, lean right by pressing R2, and by pressing both L2 and R2 you should be able to raise your view upward. For some reason I can't raise my view in first person. I haven't a clue why. I can tell you I'm using the official PCSX2 1.6.0 release if that's got any relevance. I'm using DS4windows and my DS4 controller wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Need some setup advice...

Hello everyone. I've got a some questions on getting PCSX2 working decently on my setup.

Before I go in, I need to note that I know I'm not gonna get the resolution upscaling to work on this build, but the monitor's not brilliant so it's no big deal to me. I'm trying to get everything working at 1x resolution.

I'm running PCSX2 on a PC that should, in theory, be able to run games through PCSX2 at full speed. However, it does not. It's a very slight decrease, 85-90% speed, but it's just enough to be an issue. I've messed with settings to no avail, but have also noticed that PCSX2 does not seem to be using any GPU at all, and I was wondering if that could help, or if it's even possible to make the GPU do anything.

I'm looking for some advice on how to set things up to get things working at full speed preferably without frameskipping.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Ratchet and Clank constant slowdown

I am trying to play through the Ratchet and Clank Trilogy. Menus and cutscenes are perfectly fine, and for the most part I have no issue in empty areas of the levels, but whenever enemies show up, the game slows to  65-80% speed.

My Specs are:

Processor: AMD FX-8300 Eight-Core, 3.30 GHz
RAM: 32GB
Graphics: Radeon RX 580 Series
OS: Windows 10 x64

I don't really know what I'm doing so mostly stick to the presets, but they are not working and neither are instructions found from other R&C threads, including ensuring that MTVU is on.

Anyone know of any way to fix this, or is my CPU just not good enough?

Also, not sure if it's relevant but I'm using the PAL version, although I get the same issue with the NTSC-U version.

Front Mission 4

Has anyone managed to get Front Mission 4 working flawlessly / near flawlessly yet? I've checked the wiki, and it notes two outstanding issues, and I encounter both on v1.6.0:

-Shadows are just bizarre - huge, wrongly shaped, and often warp seemingly randomly (i.e if you move the camera, the shadow will change, when it shouldn't)
-Vertical and horizontal lines across text boxes

Both can be resolved by running the game in software mode, but then obviously you're locked to the PS2's native resolution, which is uglier than playing upscaled with the issues present.

The shadow issue could be solved by enabling the Alpha hack in PCSX2 1.4.0 (I downloaded this separately to check, and can confirm it works - or at least it works in the sense of entirely disabling the shadows, which is an improvement) but this in turn causes issues with the character's portraits, which are 2D sprites, having random 1-pixel holes in them. I couldn't find a way to fix one issue without causing the other.

The issues with the lines on the text boxes aren't particularly troublesome, but if they can be solved, great.

I'm aware this game has been discussed several times on this forum (I've read all the threads I could find) but most are from several years ago. So, has anyone got any fixes for this in 2020?
