Can this configuration handle PCSX2?

Hello everyone, for many reasons I have to change PC, I hope I will do it soon.

My current PC is old and is not strong enough to run PCSX2.
I'm not looking for a monster-pc: I just would like a good PC, so I found an interesting laptop on the Internet that I would like to buy, with the following configuration:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5-3500U 2.1 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon Vega 8 2GB
512GB SSD
RAM: 8GB

Now here's the reason of this post existance: I have a lot of original PS2 disks at home, and I really would like to play them again, is this a good configuration for PCSX2? Would I be able to play smooth ALL the PS2 games? GTA Vice City, GTA 3, Bully, Ratchet and Clank, Prince of Persia, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 at a stable and good frame rate? (not less than 30FPS)? Because I'm going to move from my house, and in the moments where I don't have nothing to do, I wish I could play these old games, which I haven't touched for ages and ages.

Is there anyone who has got this configuration and uses PCSX2 without any problems? Or maybe, does some expert know if this CPU and GPU combination is strong enough? I have searched some benchmark on YouTube already, but there are too few videos with this configuration and I would like to hear your thoughts.

I hope you will answer me because this is a quite important thing for me. Thank you!

P.S.: I hope my English is clear and without too errors xD

FFX High-Poly Model Swap

Hello,

Just thought I'd spotlight this YouTube video where the characters' low-poly models have been replaced with their high-poly counterparts:

Isn't that awesome?

Maybe high-poly codes could become a new category of PCSX2 hacks, along with widescreen and no-interlacing, desu.

Bad image error. Won't let me run psxc2.

Every time I try and run pcsx2. it comes up with that error message. It happened after my computer updated so maybe something to do with that? The other thing is, I was using 1.4.0 at that point, downloaded the recent version, 1.6.0 of the site, still won't work. Although, it does merge the files, so maybe I screwed up somehow? But I don't think I did. Anyone know the solution? I've tried looking online, but came up empty.

Save files not being detected on the latest version.

I'm trying to import saved data via mymc, they were created with the 1.4.0 version, and now I am using the 1.6.0 one. However, when I try to load my KH2FM files, the game doesn't detect them. Even when running the BIOS, the memory card seems to be empty, but when I open it again with mymc, the saves are all there. What gives?

Texture filtering and image clarity?

$

I'm not a regular PCSX2 player. I just recently started my first proper play on it, with God of War. Prior to this I had only occasionally tested it.

I'm playing at 3x native resolution with OpenGL (HW). I had noticed that the overall image was quite blurry. I turned off "Soften" in game's settings and "Texture filtering of display" in Gsdx, but they had not much of an impact.

After a while, I was tinkering with Gsdx's settings and switched texture filtering from bilinear (PS2) to nearest and noticed the blur was gone, but instead everything on the screen was heavily pixelated, including the character model and its edges.

I don't know much about texture filtering or inner workings of PS2, but was under the impression that texture filtering is supposed to apply to the textures on game objects, not the objects themselves. In PCSX2, at least in this game, it seems the texture filtering is applied to the entire image.

Is this a bug, or does PS2 actually process the image like this?

Is it possible, from a coding standpoint, to add a feature to PCSX2 to apply texture filtering only to the textures?

Game frozen on specific frame

I have attached a log that is from a game I've been attempting to play. All parts of the game work completely fine, in fact better than it used to when I first used an older version of PCSX2 months ago. However, whenever I enter story mode, it just stuck on a specific frame and just freezes. I've tried a variety of potential fixes that I could find for this issue in general, played with many settings one by one, and just can't seem to get a fix. Wondering if somebody here would have a better idea of what's going on and could give me a suggestion. I also read on a previous form that OP should upload his emuLog, so I've done so as well just in case.

Help needed for ps2 controller on psx2

I am new to using psx2. I just installed it yesterday. However, I have been using other emulators for a while now on my laptop such as N64 and super nintendo. My ps2 controller with adapter for pc works fine in my other emulators. But for some reason in psx2 after i set up the controller config, the only button that works during gameplay is the left joystick and the start button. any advice would be appreciated. I have tried figuring it out on my own with research on google but I can't find the answer to my problem so I signed up on this site. thank you in advance! Smile

Knock off PS3MCA driver

After lightning killed my PS3, I decided to dust off the old PS2 to fill the empty spot on the shelf.  I thought it might be fun to play a few of my games at full speed that my potato of a laptop just simply can't run well.  After the oh so familiar chimes and chords of the boot up I discovered my memory card was unreadable.  Not willing to lose the hours of save data I set out on a journey.

I had one of those cheap Chinese PS3 Memory Card Adapters and from some googling around the web things were grim.  There are no official PC drivers for an official PS3MCA, so I had no hope for a plug and play solution.  Further googling revealed that the Free McBoot community had a driver that worked only with official adapters, but Sony quick DMCAed it off GitHub.  So with a handful of resources scraped from the web, I decided to try my hand at writing my own driver.

And well, I did it.  I have a Python script that will allow me to read, write and erase my memory card with my knock off adapter.  I'm reluctant to post the code online as I don't want to cause trouble for any hosts, but my dms are open for anyone wanting to ask questions.  My card did have a corrupt save at the beginning of the FAT and using the mymc+ tool I was able to extract all the good saves and create a new good image to upload back to my card.

This process also allows for the possibility to alter my save data.  Some games have a simple CRC32 code appended to the end of the file, but Xenosaga has a verification system I can't quite grok.  There are two bytes at the beginning that I'm convinced is some sort of crc code, but there's also a block of data at the end that seems to be random for every save.  I can't tell if it is random or if it's part of the verification algorithm.  I'm at the point where my next step is to isolate the save/load code and analyze what it's doing, but I'd thought I'd ask if anyone has experience with this sort of save before.

Input not being recognized

I just downloaded the PCSX2 software, version 1.6.0, and whenever I start up the ISO, either fast boot or full boot, I get stuck on a language select screen:

[Image: 8954f8d2bcb3631399ac5e9d5222f8c0a150449c.png]

I've tried both with and without my USB controller plugged in, and I can't get past this at all.  It doesn't respond to any input at all, and I'm at a loss for what to try now.  Here's what my current LilyPad settings look like.

So I was able to add the BIOS to PCSX2, and I think I have all the graphics set up right but for some reason when I start the game which is Tekken Tag it will show the Playstation name for a second before it becomes a grey box and then completely black screen. This keeps showing in the console. I'm not sure what I'm missing.

How do I use my GPU when using OpenGL?

$

The Sly Cooper games run like absolute garbage with OpenGL, often dropping down to 30% gamespeed even with Blending Unit off.  This is a shame because many important visual effect such as shadows and Sly 3's 3D mode only render with OpenGL.

I recently got a new gaming computer, this thing is currently the best money can buy.  It's overkill:

- Intel Core i9-10900K

- NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super

- 64 GB DDR4 memory

There was absolutely no way the games could experience slowdowns on OpenGL using this build.  Nope!  The Sly Cooper games all slow down to 30% gamespeed when using OpenGL.  This is when I noticed that the GPU selection got grayed-out when OpenGL was selected.  It's not using my GPU, that's probably the cause of the slowdowns.  Is there any way to use my GPU and OpenGL at the same time, even if it's a hacky unofficial method?
