Childhood game poor performance lag (desperatly need help:)

It's been my dream to play my favorite childhood game: Skygunner But every time i play it, it always bogs down (really slow motion) in certain moments at cut scenes and during game play.

I've tried many times to fix the problem myself but it makes little to no difference so I'm clearly doing something wrong.

I do not know if its my computers fault or the emulators fault. I play the game from and ISO.

I guess what I'm really asking for is what settings do i put and what build should i be using for this specific game. i know little to nothing about how to get the best performance

here are my specs, if you have any questions AT ALL I will answer them as quickly and best I can. Smile

Suddenly Experiencing Emulation Lag (KH2FM)

Hey guys I'm new to the forum but I've been using pcsx2 for a couple years now. I recently took a break from gaming to focus on college but now that I've come back I noticed that I've been experiencing FPS drops in games that I was previously running very well (KH, KH2FM, DBZ: Budokai, etc). Cutscenes always run at 60fps but gameplay slows down somewhere between 40-50 fps which is playable . . . but annoying. The slight slow down in game play makes the games both easier and slightly frustrating to move around in. 

Things I've tried:
- Making sure I'm using my GPU as my adapter
- Probably every combination of speedhacks (games universally run best on balanced preset)
- Ensuring that my GPU is actually running (17-23% usage when pcsx2 is running, cpu runs around 8% concurrently with it)
- Switching from version 1.2.1 to 1.4.0 of pcsx2
- Ensuring that my NVIDIA drivers are up to date

All pcsx2 settings are default except the preset has been set from 2(safest) to 3(balanced) and instead of running the Direct3D11 renderer I'm using Direct3D9. Direct3D11 causes my video to suddenly freeze but the game still runs (audio works, you can hear the characters moving, attacking, etc).

After booting the game, FMWs and splashscreens don't work in HW mode, there is only black screen with sound. SW mode looks fine.
The game also needs EE round mode positive or nearest to allow you move properly. Othervise your character is always facing to the left. 
Also texture of door is incorrect in HW mode, SW mode is fine (see screenshots).

After booting the game, on the "Columbia Pictures" screen, then copyright screen and then "Press start" screen, the bottom half of screen is missing in HW mode. SW mode is fine.
And then during loading the picture in the bottom right corner is missing in HW mode. SW mode looks fine.

D3D11 looks the same. Auto switch to SW renderer for FMVs doesn't work in D3D11 and makes the emulator freeze in OGL.

PCSX2 slow to launch + not answering

Hello everyone,

I'm currently having a sudden problem with PCSX2 1.5 : it was working perfectly fine since I've been using it but now, it takes between 5-10 minutes to launch itself (the program, not the game) and then it keeps not responding. I could still launch my game (Dragon Quest 8) once  but it took also 5-10 minutes to start and then I had no way to play (was not responding continuously and had to kill the process with the task manager). Plus, PCSX2 is appearing in the task manager even when not appearing on screen.

HP EliteBook 850 G3
Intel® Core™ i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Intel® HD Graphics 520

I had no problem when using it daily and the game was working fine too. If you think you need a log, tell me which one, I'm a bit at loss with them  Tongue but from what I read, there was no problem the last time I closed the game...

Persona 3 FES: Freezing when trying fight shadows

The game keeps freezing when attempting to fight a shadow. I get into the fight screen alright but the game freezes when trying to use a persona. When using standard attacks it appears to work but broke immediately once the character swapped from MC to a party member. I am currently using the persona 3 controllable party mod, however the issue still arises when the .pnach file is not used. The link to the .pnach file is: https://pastebin.com/S2Vj47J6. My bios setting was originally set to EU 2.0 but changed it to America 2.0, issue still occurs regardless. I did have this issue at the very first fight when you receive your persona, but I circumvented it by only using melee. Any help is appreciated.

Have tried all setting in the direct3d11 hardware/software direct 3d9 ditto open gl
 software makes the game brighter and more graphically appealing
not sure if this game is just not compatible with pcsx2, every game i have works fine but this one

Also noticed the game hangs if i go to exhibtion or sparring mode, cant see 3d models of avatars and get stuck on screen music plays fine tho

my system - Alienware Laptop
 I7-7820 hk 2.90ghz
16 gig ram
Nvidia GTX1070

PS4 controller stops being recognized once game loads

Im using Lilypad and 1.4.0.

When I first open PCSX2 it recognizes the controller in Lilypad. When I hit test device for DX Wireless Controller, it shows the input values and responds to the sticks being moved and the buttons being pressed. Once I actually start the game up however, the controller does not work. Checking the Lilypad settings at this time reads all of the values being blanked out, and does not respond to buttons being pressed. Unsure how this could be happening.

I know the controller works with the PC because of the test results above, plus with DS4Windows running, I can use the touchpad for Mouse control. The issue seems to be with PCSX2 specifically when a game is running.

I've tried DS4Windows and also Scarlet Crushes XInput wrapper. Nothing has worked yet. Any advice?

I need to buy a new controller for to use with PCSX2, but I had some questions and need some recommendations.  The last controller I had got the buttons get stuck from button mashing so I need a controller that can withstand the occasional button mashing.  I also am considering buying a wireless controller to use, but last time I bought one and tried to connect it to my PC, it didn't work.  How would I connect a wireless controller to my PC?

Hi guys, I love from software games. I played KF 1(2JP),2(3JP), & shadow tower (US) when they came out. I bought my ps3 just for demons souls and continued with the rest of the series. recently I found out there were a few titles I missed so I sought them out I just finished up shadow tower abyss(JP) and KF1 (JP) (diff emu). I just started up KF4 and I seem to have a dead zone in the upper left portion of my joy stick that is making me cringe with the already horrible controls. I tried to make the controls like kf1 but with the double activation required to pick up an item that was a no go anyway I was hoping you guys might be able to help me fix the issue. Thanks.

Hi. I'm new to Sony home console emulation and I'm having trouble getting my Xbox One controller to map. I've looked up solutions online and nothing has worked. I know the program recognizes the controller as I can test it in the test option, but either the mapping isn't working or it's far too complex for me as I know this controller works with other emulators such as PJ64 and PPSSPP. 

I'm using Windows 8.1 if that matters.

Hi everyone, i need help with adding cheat codes to the game "Contra shattered Soldier SLUS 203-06" (USA version).


I tried creating a pnach for the game with gameshark, codebreaker and action replay MAX  codes, but , although the emulator load well the pnach, the codes do anything.

Hello, I appear to be having a problem with PCSX2. The emulator loads my BIOS and the game, but it's always stuck at the language select menu Angry . I've tried to fix the problem by configuring the controls and using various plugins which are mentioned on this forum. I followed the instructions for proper installation and I binded my keys to play with the keyboard and mouse:

Hello.

I am currently trying to play through Shadow Hearts: Covenant. The game runs well, and has the typical glitches that I've read about.

( Frozen Background during Judgement Ring use, having speedhacks on makes some enemies not appear. )

I've reached a point in the game on the second disc, where an FMV plays. (Though this did happen on the first disc as well, I ignored it.)

Somehow I fixed this on a previous version of PCSX2 by messing with my settings enough. However I haven't had such luck
this time around. I do not know the previous version I was using.

So far I've tried running the game on the following builds:

PCSX 1.4.0
pcsx2-v1.5.0-dev-2456-g0efbd283c-windows-x86 (Latest)

Here are my PC Specs:

Windows 10 Version: 10.0.17134 Build 17134
x64 based PC
AMD FX™-6300 Six-Core Processor, 3500 Mhz, 3 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)
8 GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050

Hope I'm not missing anything...

...:::--- The Problem ---:::...

The FPS remains the same whether the video is or isn't playing. (60 FPS unless settings are garbage. No speedhacks.)

The FMV stutters. It remains in view up until a point where it freezes. It does not go black.

The audio does not play alongside the video either.

The only solution to move past the FMV, is to hit start to skip the FMV before it plays all the way through and freezes.

I can provide a video example of what's happening if necessary.


...:::--- Attempted Fixes ---:::...

1. Change from Hardware Mode (DX11) to Software (DX11)
2. Change from Software (DX11) to OpenGL Software (DX11)
3. Disabled Subtitles in game.
4. Setting EE/IOP Clamping to Full, because it fixed issues in the previous game.
5. Going to Config > Video > HW Hacks > Preload Game Data with OpenGL HW Rendering
6. Attempted different SPU2-X Sound Plug-in settings (Figured it was more a problem with the game.)
7. Attempted several different Presets, specifically safest, to aggressive with different render options. (HW, SW, OpenGL)

8. Attempted activating every manual game fix hacks PCSX2 has to offer. (Meaningless more than likely, but I wanted to see. !!!This includes switching to
GSdx software rendering when an FMV plays!!!)

9. Checked if Automatic Gamefixes has been on the entire time.
10. Updated the version of my PCSX from 1.4.0 to 1.5 in an attempt to see if these problems were rectified in the new version, and testing nearly all the same attempts.
11. Went from using Default Hardware Device for Adapter in GSdx Plug-in Settings to using my Graphics Card
12. Tried Texture Filtering of different values in the GSdx Plug-in Settings.

I am at the end of my rope. I have absolutely no idea what to do to fix this.
Any help would be vastly appreciated, as I'd like to try and watch the cutscenes in their full glory if possible!

I've also tried looking up a lot of different search terms to try and come up with a solution to the problem that's already been established, but haven't been able to as of yet. So I figured this thread may be necessary if anyone has a similar problem in the future.

Hi, I'm pretty tired and annoyed right now so I am sorry if I a bit irritable. Anyways, I have been trying for a while to get my PCSX2 program to a point in where I am comfortably play games at a nice framerate but I have gotten no where even though my PC is obviously powerful enough to run PS2 games.

My SPECS are as follows; 

OS - Windows 10 Pro
CPU - FX-4130
RAM - 6.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3
Motherboard - ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M5A97 R2.0
GPU - 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

So yeah, if any of you wizards can tell me how I could speed anything up gimme a comment on this thread - If you need anymore information, ASK AND DONT COMPLAIN BEFORE DOING THAT.
