Castlevania: CoD fram drop

Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.

I just installed PCSX2 in order to play Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and everything seemed to be running great at first, but occasionally during combat the framerate drops to ~65%. I check resource consumption and everything is within normal percentages. I tried tweaking settings based on other posts but I don't see any improvement. Some of the settings don't make much sense to me, since this is the first time I've used emulation to this level of complexity. Below are my system settings and config from the logs. Let me know if there's anything else I can provide to make this easier to isolate.

Thanks

Guitar Hero 2 Calibration Issue (SPEEDHACKS USED)

$

Note: I’m using speedhacks, specifically EE Cyclerate at −2 and VU Cycle Stealing at 3.

I can’t get this game calibrated. The calibration option in Guitar Hero 2 is... rudimentary. It not possible to manually enter numbers, and the game only supports positive numbers. Only problem is, my computer screen needs negative numbers, but Harmonix didn’t start including negative calibration until the Rock Band games. 0ms is as calibrated as the game gets, and you have to play out of sync to do well. Obviously, this a problem with the game and not the emulator, but is there any way work around this problem, including other fixes/hacks.

Great performance improvement

Hello guys, I'm back to give you some feedback for the latest revision I tested, 7aa554b, with games I had problems getting consistent 100% speed on my notebook. I used some specific scenes from each game to test the improvement in each release and had a significant improveent in this build. I'll test the newer build later and share more info on this topic, because I'm typing from a smartphone right now.

Some details:
Games tested:
Shadow hearts(unexpected improvement on hw mode)
Shin megami tensei: digital devil
Crash twinsanity (specificaly the main menu Animation effects)
Final fantasy 12 during heavy fight effects)
Kingdom hearts
Breath of fire dragon quarter
May be more that I dont remember now

Hw specs:
I5 2450m @3.1ghz
Gt 630m oc'd a bit
Nvidia driver v. 375 (I guess)

Pcsx2:

Preset 2;
Gsdx w/ dx11 renderer
Native resolution
Mipmap fast mode
Everything Else at default

Ps: I usually put the system resolution = internal rendering resolution. It seems that the image gets less distorted by stretching and shows less or no FPS drops. The same happens on ppsspp Android version. I have some theories about why this happens, but ill share my ideas here later.

At last, great work, guys. Awesome work.

Looking for someone with laptop with GTX960M and Witcher 3

If you have the game and a laptop with that gpu,can you run the game at the lowest possible settings(all to low/off and lowest resolution)in some town with a lot of people and tell me the average speed you get(the fps set to unlimited off course)

It will be also nice to try 1360x768 too.

There are so many videos at youtube but all of them are at 1920x1080

Rant, but problem solved

I have been on and off with PCSX2 since 2011. The last time I used it intensively was precisely 2 years ago when I had built my new PC with i5-4570 and still my old Geforce 650ti. Emulation was great, I had a blast playing my favorite PS2 games for a few months. Now I wanted to play some again and I'm having a terrible experience - all games have visual glitches - lines around edges and incorrect reflections and what not. The things that have changed since 2 years ago are Windows 10 (from Win 7) and Geforce 960. I have wasted this evening trying all graphics settings, mixing them, different bios, different plugins, reinstalling PCSX2, trying older versions - nothing helps. The only mode that works well is software rendering but with it games look like I'm playing them on PS2 which is not bad but defeats the purpose of using an emulator, I could just connect my PS2 slim and have the authentic experience.

Time Crisis 2 Split-screen uses player 1 screen

I was trying to play time crisis 2 split-screen on the latest git build v1.5.0-dev-1740-gaf3c1fc from Dec. 24 but it does not seem to be working. Starting 2 player mode will cause the screen to shake and only show player 1 side only. Split-screen use to work on an older git version, not on any stable version, though I do not know if there were issues in newer builds that caused it to be removed. I've read on the git page "The top revision is the latest, which means it includes all changes from all previous ones." Any info if it will be added back in later git builds. Thank you.

Erementar Gerad error

Hello, I just got few questions. I been playing this game Erementar Gerad and I am quite curious about this "WARNING: WaitEventFlag KE_CAN_NOT_WAIT" I keep on getting cause I see like 100+ of them when running the game. (One of many weird things that happen.) Been running it in DirectX11 in software mode since the game doesn't quite work in hardware mode since there is like a front overlay image that doesn't go away.(VU stealing to 3 sometimes glitches the game past it. Tongue ) Only other things I seen in the game is that certain modes will crash PCSX2 and random 30% speed drops. Mostly been using the recommended speedhacks and the fix for this game besides the MTVU one since it slows the game down a lot, I have tried them off as well. Just want to know what that error is and what ways I can try to fix it maybe. Thank you very much. Happy

High pitched whine in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2

$

I searched the forums but didn't any info on this issue. Randomly throughout Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 there is a sustained, high pitched whining sound that plays. I've tested with Directsound and with the default sound plugin, it occurs on both. It primarily seems to occur in combat, but when roaming dungeons, even after combat the sound will continue for a long, but seemingly random interval (could be a few seconds, could go on for several minutes and even persist through cutscenes).

Has anyone experienced this? I've tested various builds from the last several months, they all do this. So far I've tried builds 1.5: rev 1351, 1530, 1705, and 1740, it occurs in all of them.

How big of a performance impact do things like AF and mipmaps cause?

Specifically on reasonably high end systems?

i5 4690k
8GB DDR 1600
GTX 970 mini
Windows 8.1

Wondering how much of a hit things like changing filtering from bilinear to trilinear, enabling mipmaps (and basic vs. full), and Anisotropic filtering cause for higher end GPUs, and if the impact is intensified with internal resolution scaling.

i started to install and play games since i and my kids are a gamer, instead of buying game console its better to have in laptop for multi purpose.
im planning to have a new one this coming month. though my laptop arent that bad but in low specs some of the games are not performing good.

Running 2 PCSX2 processes is better

I found out that running two makes games perform better than running with one.

My PC has a Intel Xeon E3-1230 v5 Skylake (and a RX 480, but that doesn't matter in software mode), and I have noticed that running multiple threads in software mode sucks, so I have to use a single thread.

I spent a lot of time messing with settings to get the best settings in Ace Combat 04, but I accidentally started up two PCSX2's without noticing and started the game up with the same settings and noticed that the game runs two times as fast.

I don't know what else to put here because I did this with only one game, but I would love to know if other PCSX2 users have the same experience.

PS. I used pcsx2-v1.5.0-dev-1740-gaf3c1fc-windows-x86, but in the release version of PCSX2 1.4.0 it does not seem to work.

AppImage for PCSX2 distribution

I found an Application which can run Linux Binaries on all Distros. It's called "AppImage".  In Windows the dependencies are the *.dll files, Linux uses *.so. AppImage combines the Linux executable with the required .so files in one Image which should work on all modern Linux Distros.

It would be nice if the PCSX2 Developers could make an official AppImage.

Haunting Ground post processing problem.

Dear community.

I've read there is option to fix postprocessing effects in Haunting Ground with new PCSX2 version [wiki].

I'm trying PCSX 2 v1.5.0-dev-1740 but with no luck.

Someone said:
"Download the latest devs build of PCSX2, then choose an OpenGL hardware again, enable mip-mapping with any level of blending unit and after that completely disable all speed hack. Only this will allow you play HG with working shadows and (almost) no post effect issues."

Please look at my settings:

Keeping game speed @ 100%?

New to the forum and new to PCSX2.  I am playing FF12 on PCSX2 1.4.0.  It's working almost perfectly; however, I'm having a little bit of trouble with the game speed.  It seems to oscillate frequently between 98% - 101% making it juuuust annoying enough to throw off game play.

My machine specs: win 10 home, i5 1.3-1.9 GHz, 8GB 64 bit system.

Any existing threads or simple tweaks? Thanks

I recently got PCSX2 and have been playing FFXII. Everything has been working fine except for cutscenes and the mini-map/gui. The text is pixelated and with the cutscenes they look baddd and they flicker heaps. Does anybody know how to fix it? (pictures: http://imgur.com/a/elCaD)

That's what it looks like. I've tried changing the GS plugin, the core settings, window settings to different things and nothing fixes it. Is there a way to fix this as it makes text virtually unreadable on screen.

Specs if it matters:

Athlon X4 860k

8GB RAM

GTX 750 1GB
