Will there ever be a games lineup as good as the ps2's fall 2001 lineup?

windows 10 / pcsx2 1.3.1 - iso won't start

Hello, a mate send me your emulator and I was hoping to try one of my favorite games today, no luck yet.

I can start the emulator on its default settings just fine, but trying to boot the (original) game either through iso, elf or game-dvd will cause the program to crash, with no information what exactly causes the problem.

I've gone through the trouble shoot faq & browsed the forum for possible solutions, but to no avail yet, so I hope one of you can help me, pretty please Smile . Curious to how far emulation of the ps2 has gone since last time I checked, especially on this relatively new'ish computer (from the log);

I'm trying to boot Klonoa2, maybe this game is known to crash?

I already have the Visual C++ 2013 redist x86. thing installed, uninstalled & reinstalled it just in case. Am going through the youtube configuration guide at the moment, but all the options in the plugin/bios settings menu are quite dazzling. If for every game one has to fiddle in menu's to select the best working configuration I think I'll just stick with the real deal Smile .

When the program crashes, the last thing in the log seems to be the graphics card being initialized, 'NVIDIA Geforce 750 (10.18.', maybe my videocard isn't compatible/causes issues?

I've also tried disabling the read only properties of the PCSX2-1.3.1 folder contents in the right mouse click menu & allow full control for most users, run in administrator mode. Somehow the read only properties seem to reset back, even though I press 'apply'(?).

Lastly, I've also added a folder exception to my comodo antivirus set-up, possible causing conflicts.

Cheers,

R

Why do some games emulate superbly while others run so slow...?

Out of my game library FFX is the only one that seems to work at 1920x 1080 resolution on my large HDTV. It looks great. I tested out Crash Nitro Kart and that looks and runs good as well.

However, I've noticed that a lot of games don't run very good at highest resolution and suffer from slowdown unless I put the game in native resolution, which results in jagged visuals and black bars on the sides. If I stretch screen or go to 16:9 mode..it looks even worse when in "native." This was mostly present in Gran Turismo 3 and Jak2. Also, Jak2 has weird graphic glitches on Jak model such as green skin/ & metallic like hair. Still playable, but it's in native mode.

Other games such as Spider-Man: The Movie run slow no matter what resolution it's in. The compatibility list states otherwise, but it's not playable for me the framerate drops too low making it extremely slow to play.

What PS2 games run really good on PCSX2? FFX looks, sounds, and plays great when emulated. I wish all my games emulated like that.

Looking to purchase MGS2, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, 007: Everything or Nothing, and hope they emulate @ full resolution without slowdown like FFX and Crash Nitro Kart.

So, anyone been hearing about this game alot lately? I hadn't really looked into it, I had heard it was by Blizzard, and a F2P FPS. So I was not interested when I saw the F2P label. That all changed when Blizzard announced "40$ to buy, all future heroes and maps are free, only cosmetics will be available."

So I started looking into it...and was intrigued. Blizzard has changed the game three times during the current beta, major changes, revamping the way systems work - unlike most Betas, Blizzard IS taking feedback and changing the game around alot. They're not half-assing this based off of posts I've read, they are committed to a degree you don't see these days usually, they are unwilling to take shortcuts and make a quick buck...

Think about it, Blizzard could've released this F2P, unlockable / buyable Heroes, and it'd grow huge and they'd have billions in the bank within years, no doubt, easy enough money. But no, BLizzard went B2P FPS - rare these days, and charged 40$ for it - not 60$, since there's no Singleplayer(EA?), promised all future content except cosmetic is free.

I've been watching so many videos and there's alot of a depth there. 21 Heroes to start - everything unlocked, nothing beyond a timewall or paypall. I am dreaming. It is 2015, almost 2016, and a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER IS RELEASING WITHOUT A PAYWALL OR TIMEWALL! It's insane!  Some comments I see make me sad though "Why not unlockable weapons /  heroes? What's the point to winning?" - seeing that hurt me, physically, as a gamer, that now adays people do not see the point of winning in a FPS...unless you get XP or unlocks. Well Blizzard is planning cosmetic rewards for playing classes, so there's that.

Some of the best videos I saw so far:

I dunno if it'll be the "next big thing" like people think, or an eSport, but I think it's damn fun.

It's releasing in 2016...without a timewall or a paypall, just a buy 2 play FPS! I never thought I'd see another since COD4 changed FPSes.

Slowdown when using V-sync and OpenGL?

Hardware:
CPU: i5 4670k @ stock (I know, waiting on cooler)
GPU: GTX 780
I won't worry about listing the rest, because I'm fairly certain this isn't a hardware issue.

PCSX2 version: Latest beta build v1.3.1-1585

Game:
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence

GS settings:
http://puu.sh/mbC4b/53c2cecf47.png

Problem:
Enabling Vsync no matter if through drivers or through PCSX2 causes somewhat random slowdowns.

but strangely they don't always occur as soon as I put the game in fullscreen, for instance if I put the game in fullscreen and walk around a bit then look twards a graphically intensive area the game will start to run slowly, but if I continue looking in that direction, go into windowed mode (it goes back up to 100% in windowed mode), then go into fullscreen it will remain running at full speed for a little while, then if I walk around a bit an come back it will dip and stay low.

So given this I don't think it's a hardware issue preventing me from running at full speed with Vsync.

Additional info:
I can run with the exact same settings in DX11 mode (With vsync)  and have no problem. 100% all the time.
if I make the game windowed in OpenGL mode it runs perfectly at 100% all the time, only going into fullscreen (when vsync kicks in) do I get these performance issues.

For those wondering why not just play in DX11 then, this game suffers from some graphical glitches in some areas (black spots on trees and ground).

Just wanted to make sure others are having the same issue, so I didn't put this in bugs. I will test this on some other games to see if the same happens.

yep, was able to re-produce this in Ratchet and Clank. went full screen played for about 30 sec then BOOM slowdown, went windowed and everything returned to 100%, went back into fullscreen in the same spot and it was fine for another 30 or so seconds then slowed down.
Strangely enough after some fiddling with it I've found after going fullscreen and going through an area at full speed until it starts to slowdown, I am then able to go back through that area at full speed as long as I don't look twards a new area kinda like it's "caching" the area I've just been in.

I made this account so that I could post some relevant information (as requested by the author) in here, however it was apparently removed by the site's spam filter. When checking an older thread, this was probably due to the fact it had 2 attached files.

Any chance that a mod could approve it? It was a pretty objective post which was meant only to help.

Debugger Crash

$

Tested on: pcsx2-v1.3.1-1588-g191453d-windows-x86

Bugs:
  • When hitting break after the shutdown, the debugger will automatically resume as if you had only paused emulation, rather than checking to see if a full shutdown had occurred. Before the debugger was implemented, it was impossible to resume emulation after a shutdown, as there is an additional check at line 614 in MainFrame.cpp. Since this check is never performed by the debugger, the emulator tries to resume with no plugins loaded, and with all registers/memory flushed. A check could potentially be placed in "DebugInterface::resumeCpu(), which starts at line 181 in DebugInterface.cpp.
Note: The issue is not localized to any single game.

Weird forum game I made up

$

So I can't sleep and I just made up this weird forum game for us to play. Not saying it's never been done before, but I've never heard of it. Basically it works like this. I will start by posting half a sentence. The next person will finish that sentence and write another half. Like this:

Start: "What do you"
First reply: "What do you think? Should we"
Second reply "What do you think? Should we eat an alligator? That might be"
Third reply "What do you think? Should we eat an alligator? That might be fun. If only"

And so on. The fun comes from the wacky stuff that will no doubt arise.

Rules:
  • No double posting
  • No swearing
  • If two people post at the same time, the first post counts. Second post, please edit your answer out and try again
  • Nothing incredibly sexually explicit. Use common sense. A bit of silliness is okay but describing a sex act is not
  • Please post the entire chain with your addition bolded so it's easier to keep track.

As I said, I will start off.

I think that

I bought this cheap gamepad 'MS Industrial 3in1 console for PC,PS2,PS3'
It is recognized in Ubuntu 15.10 by jstest-gtk as ShanWan PS3/PC Gamepad

It is also recognized by OnePAD plugin. It reacts in config plugin when I press some buttons. However, it does not work in a game. Am I doing somethis wrong? The game is PES.

Hi,i've been trying to actually play Onimusha Dawn of Dreams,im already at Stage 12,i switched the discs, and bam,a white screen with a little bit of yellow in the top-left corner.

#Settings usedWackoettings for Max speed, otherwise. EE/IOP:EE:Recompiler,IOP:Recompiler,Round Mode:Nearest,Clamping:None. VUsWackouperVu Recompiler on both,Round Mode and Clamping:Nearest and None.
#What happens:I switch disks when it asks me to,or switch to disc 2 before booting, load the save,go to the next stage, and that's it.

.png   Onimusha 4 Disc 2 problem.png (Size: 93,42 KB / Downloads: 3)

That's what it looks like, and yes,it runs extremely slow while displaying the damn thing, and the IPU errors are from when i started up the game 2 minutes ago,and i had 3 options:
A) Complain about it on the forums.
B) Try the PAL version,which i don't have,but i can pirate,but i won't.
C) Give up trying to play the damn game.

And i chose A).
So,now,what do i do?

Hi, everyone!

I have a problem with Neo Contra. Stage 1 doesn't work. It freezes at the first location. Stage 2 doesn't work too and it freezes at the video. I searched in other threads, but I didn't find any solution. Is it real to fix or the game isn't playable?
