Can't figure it out

I'm having issues with slow downs and frame rate dropping to the 20s-30s on Dirge of Cerberus (really early on in Kalm as soon as you come out of the alley). I haven't messed with any configurations outside of the presets. I've never seen the CPU peak above 60% on any core or the GPU above 40ish-50ish% at native resolution with the following specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: GTX 1660 (using open source 455.38 drivers Opengl is on 4.6.0)
OS: Pop_OS 20.04 (Ubuntu variant)
PCSX2: stable 1.6.0 and nightly 1.7.0

I'm still trying to rip the rest of my games, but I did get DDR Extreme to work well. Any help would be appreciated. Nostalgia struck me hard and I wanted to play DoC, but my PS2 isn't spinning discs properly, so emulation is my only option.

In need of crash course on Onimusha Dawn of Dreams problems and patches!

Hello, I'm new here on the forum but, I am also a computer science major that enjoys small projects to fill the time. So I was hoping to get a bit of a crash course on the problems and previous patches for Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. From what I have gathered so far it is all 2D assets that are not being read correctly due to a problem that would cause the game to freeze or crash. If there is more please tell me. I'm hoping to help make on of my favorite games be pristine for emulation! Laugh

Jackie Chan's Adventures visual bugs

So, recently, I was playing Jackie Chan's Adventures. And I tried all I could to fix issues including lightning problems for days and I couldn't. One of the bugs was how water would be shown on the right part of the screen (in a certain level) even tho there's no water where I'm walking. As you'd assume, such problems make the game almost unplayable. You can see the attached files yourselves. Every setting I did, brought no solution. The best result was when I turned skipdraw to "2". But that only brought another problem which was that half the screen was perfect while the other one wasn't showing some effects properly. I tried looking for an answer to the issue but found nothing online. To make matters worse, the game is not even listed on the website on the compatibility list which is kinda odd. And so I believe if there's one game that needs to be fixed for emulation it's gotta be this one.
EDIT: You can watch a PS2 walkthrough on YT of the first level and compare it to the screenshots. You will notice that the weird lines aren't shown.

Heroes of the Pacific freezing during loading screen

As the titles says, whenever I try to play Heroes of the pacific the game always freezes up at the black and white loading screen with the VU going from 0% to 100%. I've tried the different hardware/software modes for both Direct 3D and OpenGL and used both 1.7 and 1.5 developer builds of PCSX2 but nothing changes. Any tips on getting this game to run or is it just a fact of life I'll have to stick to my physical PS2? Cheers

BIOS Missing from List

PCSX2 doesn't list my BIOS in the first-time configuration wizard. I followed the instructions in the readme that came with the ps2dumper tool. I'm not sure whether my BIOS is bad or if there's something I can be doing differently. Here are the steps I've taken so far:

I dumped the BIOS from my PS2 Slim to a USB flash drive. I used an 8GB MagicGate PS2 memory card with FreeMCBoot to copy ps2dumper.elf (V2 by Florin) to the memory card, and uLaunchELF to run the dumper. I tried dumping the BIOS three times: twice I removed the USB drive before turning the PS2 off, once I turned the PS2 off first, every time I waited a few minutes after the DONE message appeared.

I copied the files to my PC, ran the batch file, and added my system's serial number, separated by an underscore, to the end of the file name. I installed PCSX2 (v1.16.0 stable) in C:/Games and added the bios in C:\Games\PCSX2 1.6.0\bios to avoid Windows permissions issues. I double-checked that I have the right directory by clicking "Open in Explorer". I tried running PCSX2 normally and as an administrator, and I've tried turning off my antivirus.

Here are some relevant specs, a few repeated from above:
  • PS2 model number: SCPH-79001 US
  • PCSX2 version: 1.16.0 stable
  • PS2 Dumper version: 2.0
The resulting BIOS file has the right extension for the new format, .P2b, but doesn't appear in the BIOS list when I run the configuration wizard. The only modifications I've made to my PS2 are taping the disc drive buttons down and removing the spring from the disc drive catch so the disc doesn't stop spinning when the lid is open (to run region-locked games, etc.) I haven't installed a mod chip or anything else beyond the FreeMCBoot memory card.

Am I dumping the BIOS the wrong way? Can I verify or validate the BIOS somehow? Do I need to change something with PCSX2?

PC Specs:
  • OS: Windows 10 build 19041.630
  • CPU: Intel i5 Core-6600K @ 3.50 GHz
  • Motherboard: ASRock Z170A-X1/3.1
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 1070

How to configure Winamp DSP audio plugin?

Typically with DSP-compatible programs, I could just double-click the plugin's name in the DSP list and the configuration window would open. But there's no option for that in PCSX2.

I want to use an equalizer plugin but since its default settings are 0 across the board, how can I change that?

Thanks.

Edit:

Is my understanding of how to enable a DSP plugin in SPU2-X.ini settings correct?

Example:

[DSP PLUGIN]
Filename=C:\DSP Plugins\dsp_example.dll
ModuleNum=0
Enabled=TRUE

What are the alternatives for ModuleNum?

Heroes of the Pacific freezing during loading screen (SOLVED)

As the titles says, whenever I try to play Heroes of the pacific the game always freezes up at the black and white loading screen with the VU going from 0% to 100%. I've tried the different hardware/software modes for both Direct 3D and OpenGL and used both 1.7 and 1.5 developer builds of PCSX2 but nothing changes. Any tips on getting this game to run or is it just a fact of life I'll have to stick to my physical PS2? Cheers

Hey everyone. I'm playing RAC2 on the newest version of PCSX2 1.6.0 and i have a few questions. Why does this game lag sometimes? I have a Ryzen 9 3900x and a 1080ti with 16gigs of ram. Should be plenty. Followed the suggestions on the wiki and still get some lag. Also, there is a secret teleporter on one of the levels that requires the time to be set to a certain time to be able to activate I forget if its midnight or 3 am but when i boot no iso on the emulator i have no text visible to change the options. I can go into the menu but I can't *see* the options but I can hear myself scrolling through them

Random Lag Spikes

So ive been using PCSX2 exclusively for persona 4 for a while now but recently ive been having the problem that roughly twice every minute the game has a lag spike no matter what i do. i might be in a battle, walking around, or standing in place but no matter what it always happens. PSCX2 seems to be the only thing that has this problem. idk what to do. I havent had this problem up till now. any ideas?

Hi there thanx for the warl welcome. I have just got myself a Samsung Laptop (300E5A model) with 500GB hd, 6GB ram windows 8.1 Pro installed. I've just installed the PCSX2 emulator andbusy downloading one of the best games i ever had Street Fighter Alpha Collection. I would like to know can the emulator run effeciently with no glitches or lagging on my laptop and what drivers or softwares if any do i require for smooth gaming. Can you please assist me...

Controller Movement & Rotation Bug

Not sure if its known or not, or No one else has experienced it, on a PS4 controller of mine which I use Bluetooth connection.

When I move the L-Analog Stick a bit to the left or right I walk or move slowly, but when I turn the R-Analog Stick the camera then makes me move faster again.

I noticed this from Kingdom Hearts 2 (NTSC-U) SLUS-21005 in case this helps.

Photos of my Controller should be attached and two of them should show what happens, but the game isn't the photos, so trust my word it happens to me.
