Trouble with starting game

Hey, i'm having some difficultly playing MGS3 subsistence on PCSX2, i'm not using an ISO as i'm using the original disk( I know that ripping the ISO from the disk is recommended but I don't want to mess with that as i'm new to emulation) I've gotten the game to where it shows the Konami logo and the Kojima productions logo, but after that it just stays black no matter how long I wait. I've tried running from full and fast, but both have the same result, Suggestions?

Some issues on Linux Mint

Hi there,

I'm using Linux Mint 19.0 64-bit in a VM (VMware Workstation 15 Player) for some testing purposes, and I also want to test PCSX2 there. Host System is a Windows 7 machine.

So I added the daily PPA (See https://launchpad.net/%7Epcsx2-team/+arc...csx2-daily) to my system and installed "pcsx2-unstable".
After starting up I got some crippled dialogs(GSdx-settings.PNG) with some legacy theme. I'm able to enlarge it manually (GSdx-settings_2.PNG), but if I switch between SW/HW Renderer, nothing below is greyed out. I thought I could fix that by installing some 32-bit GTK stuff, which was pointed in the terminal when I launched the program:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "gail"
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "atk-bridge"
Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "adwaita"
Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "pixmap"
Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "murrine"

So I searched on the internet, and installed these:

"sudo apt install gtk2-engines-pixbuf:i386 gtk2-engines-murrine:i386 gnome-themes-extra:i386 libatk-adaptor:i386 libgail-common:i386"

After that (and restarting pcsx2), the theme looked better, but the GSdx menu is still crippled (GSdx-settings_3.PNG), and grey out is not working for the renderer, but in other menus it seems to work.

And finally, I can not start any Game, because GSdx fails to start (In HW and SW mode, with different errors, see attached logs).
I understand the performance might be weird on a VM or there will be other troubles, but it should (at least) start a game somehow, are these known issues or is that specific for virtualization?

Thanks for your answers.

Configs for PCSX2 for my new laptop

I bought a new laptop recently due to my old one decaying.

My version is PCSX 1.4.0. I managed to play DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 locked at 60-65fps after setting the GS to match my graphic driver and DirectX11, and, outside of PCSX2, I managed to play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 at 55-60fps at medium settings just fine, without ever experiencing remotely any frame drops. However, after I decided to download God of War 2, I have been experiencing some problems with it.

The cutscenes are smooth and locked at 55 to 60 fps, but whenever I start to actually play it, it drops to 35 or so fps. At first I thought it was because I had left 10+ tabs open on Google, but closing all of them didn't increase the fps in the slightest. I'd like to know what configurations I could use to get around this, and if my specs are good enough to comfortably run the majority of PS2 games:

PCSX 2 Mac Installation and Startup Questions

I'm using a MacBook Air 6,2 with Mac OSX Mojave. I've been searching for a Playstation 2 emulator for a while and everyone has been recommending this one, but the most recent download available for Mac is 0.9.2 I believe, which is apparently extremely out-of-date. I was wondering if there are other emulators that are better maintained, or if there is a way to fix this issue. If there is a way to contact the developers of the software I would love to know that as well, I admit I haven't looked yet.

I've recently been playing through Persona 4 again, and I've been saving my game through the actual memory card feature. I was wondering if there was a way to access the save file and make it a ".sav" file instead of just accessing the memory card

I am aware of a thread about a similar issue relating to TC:LA from about 2015 where someone was working on a fix, never heard more about it though, i heard there was also a tool to download in /download/development/git.html that may fix the issue but im not 100% sure which one i need or if its even still up to date.

I have changed VU1 to [superVU recompiler] which has helped a bit as i can now see whats actually on screen properly but it still has massive texture issues and is almost unplayable.

Any info is appreciated.

Since the only way to play killzone is with the software renderer because all hw backends have the bottom half screen issue.  The pause screen runs very, very slow but it's not graphically intensive at all.  What is causing this huge slowdown in the pause screen

Left Analog Stick Acting Weird

$

I've already posted this on Reddit 10 hours ago, but got not answers, so I'll try my luck here.

Some time ago I played Persona 4, and all of my joysticks were acting pretty strange - sometimes the left analog stick stopped working alltogether and sometimes my character was walking in the opposite direction or walking on his own with me not even touching the joystick.

I blamed it on the cheap 5 $ joysticks but this Christmas I got a 60 $ Steelseries Stratus XL, and when I tried playing Obscure it happened again. At first everything is normal, but after a few minutes the left stick gets unresponsive or the character starts to walk by himself. If I restart the emulator everything works fine for a bit, but then the controlls start acting weird again.

I decided to try Rise of the Tomb Raider and Spyro 2 on PS1 emulator binding movement buttons to left stick - played for 30 minutes and had no issues whatsoever so I'm pretty convinced that it's PCSX2 fault.

I use LilyPad 0.11.0 plugin.

Tried remaining two plugins:
SSSPSX PAD Pressure Mod 1.7.1 - with this one I don't see a way to bind analog sticks - only the directional buttons.
TwinPad 0.8.3 - When I click Plugin Settings nothing happens. When I try to launch game with it it says 'Can't open COMBs file'. Though it loads game if I load it from emulator's save file, however, joystick doesn't work since the keys are not bound.

Please help.

Some specs:
Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit
i3-4170 CPU 3.70 Ghz
RAM: 12 GB
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
PSCX2 1.2.1.

TL;DR left stick either unresponsive or character moves on his own. PC and PS1 emulator games run without any issues.

Z.O.E The 2nd Runner doesn't work stably

Hello. I play Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner Special Edition [PAL] on PCSX2. I, of course, use the bios called Europe v2.20. It was working properly, but it suddenly got slower and unstable. The fps is always 1 or 2. Even in the turbo mode, the fps is 20 or less. The log repeats "wakeup eeload 10" or "wakeup eeload 11." It doesn't go frozen, but I can hardly play it. I reset the configuration and rebooted the system, but the problem hasn't been solved yet. It ALWAYS looks as if it's about to crash. I hope I can find a solution here.

Gran Turismo 4 pnach woes

First off I'd like to say hello to my fellow PS2 enthusiasts! It's cool to find a place of like minded individuals here. I've done my fair share of retro gaming for awhile now, and it's nice to see that the scene is still very much alive.

Okay, so to my issue. I'm having an issue trying to activate codes via PCSX2's built in cheat engine, but only for this game in particular. I've successfully modified a couple of my other games using the pnach method with no issue. However, it seems like Gran Turismo 4 (SCUS-97328, CRC 0x77E61C8A) just doesn't want to work. I've created a pnach file identical to one of my successful endeavors, and tried using multiple different sets of codes from all around the web with no avail. It seems like none of the codes want to work with it, including max cash, all gold license, etc. I've double checked my codes and editing in OmniConvert, but even using ready made RAW codes doesn't seem to work. I've also tried to put the pnach in both my documents and my main PCSX2 Cheats folder with no luck. Also tried creating a new save game and using an old save game.

Can someone give me a little direction here as I'm pulling my hair out trying to get this rogue game to behave correctly. Thanks in advance!

Ace Combat 04 black aircraft issue theory

$

Hello to everyone.

I may have an idea what causes Ace Combat 04 "black palne texture" issue.

Recently, a de-interlacing patches were released for several games, including Ace Combat 4.
This patch actually helps with AC04, I've learned it from one of the users on Ace Combat subreddit, who posted this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-z4rt3TRGA

Using these patches, it is possible, to partially get rid of black plane issue. However I've noticed an interesting detail.

Ace Combat 04 normally had rather vivid shadow effects on the aiframe, which are now gone from the jet in the emulator.

My theory, is that somehow interlacing was used to put the shadow effect on the aircraft, and "black plane" issue comes from emulator completely shadowing the jet. With the de-interlacing patch applied the shadow effect is gone, allowing the normal aircraft texture to be seen.

This is sort of supported by other effects playing differently from the original game, for example - screen shaking at mission 07. With the de-interlacing patch applied, the image splits into two overlaid ones.

Perhaps, this information will be useful to the dev team in solving the AC04 issue.

public compatibility list

should the public compatibility list have games listed on it that required online support that's now unsupported like FF11? Should games that require an unemulated peripheral like the eyetoy or singstar microphone be listed in a separate category?
