How do I achieve authenticity?

In the video plugin settings, I noticed a lot of cool extra features like anti-aliasing and texture filtering.
These are all good for making my games look pretty, but I want to know how to make games look as close to what they'd be like on a real PS2 as physically possible. What do I need to set?

GZIP Problems?

Hey Guys,
I am using the PCSX2 version that supports GZIP files.  I have noticed that some games do not work in GZIP format, however if I unzip and run the ISO it works.  Anyone else have this issue? When the game does not work all I get is a black screen.  Sometimes the Gzip version is very temperamental.

Thanks
Jim

Jak X: Combat Racing. Multiple problems.

Well, this is my first time posting here, and my first time using PCSX2, Im emulating Jak X and having some problems.
Sound: It wasn't working so I got the patch, running a full boot make the sound work, but at the time I enter adventure mode (campaign) it starts to lagg and then disables the sound and subtitles of the cinematics and just left the sfx, after a couple of matches the music stops working too.
Save: The automatic save works like a charm, but when I manually save it stucks in the "saving data" window. This is not too bad so I don't really really need to fix it.
Textures: Some specific textures (like wheels or certain body customs) look awfully bad. I can ignore this too but would be cool to know why it happens.
Crashes: It seems to crash when it loads some models, particles, textures, and when it saves, if some of these things happen at the same time.

I managed to "prevent" or delay some of these problems changing some values. But at the end the problems are still there.
I would like to know if this could be a compatibility problem between the settings and my hardware, the iso and the patch, the "location" of the bios (USA, Japan, etc), or a problem with the iso itself.

The game is actually running, so I'd prefer to take some advices about configuration before posting my whole system and the console data.

PS.: Short questions: What's the difference between hardware controlled graphics and software controlled graphics?
The sound problems could be caused by poor graphic performance? (It seems to work worse when I low or increase the graphics too much).
What manages the sound? Hardware? Drivers? I don't much about how the sound is executed by a PC.

Thanks very much for reading, excuse my english, and forgive me if some of this things have obvious fixes, or I posted something wrong, Im pretty lost with using the emulator.

PCSX2 crashing on setting change

Everytime i go to change the Bios or Plugins, and press OK, the whole program freezes on that spot.
So when i restart the program, and try to load a game, it says that i dont have the proper Bios loaded.  But damnit, every time I try to select a bios, thats when it crashes.

I just installed PCSX2 on my mac.

Downloaded CG framework, Xquartz, Bios, and trying to run PCSX2 0.9.7
I got a Mac Pro
Running Lion 10.7.5
2.66 ghz dual core
5 GB ram
NVidia GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB

I tried downloading an earlier version of PCSX2, and it loaded my ISO game, but there was no picture, just audio.  So not sure if theres a fix for that.

Im trying to get 0.9.7 to work because I like the interface better.

Please if anyone can help, that would be grateful.

Thanks,

Paul

Runtime Error when using GSDX

Hello everyone,

I am having an issue with PCSX2 and I would appreciate any help if anyone can assist me in resolving it. So I've been using PCSX2 for awhile now, however it will only run when I use the ZeroGs 0.97.1 plugin. I believe my PC can run better than this, but whenever I try to use a GSdx plugin, I instantly get a runtime error when I load a game. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Log is below:

Help w/ KH2 FM pls

Was wondering if anyone would be able to help me. When I started playing Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, it was working fine. It ran 60 fps with an occasional drop to just over 40.

Now when I try to play it rarely gets up to 50 fps, even the title screen goes up to 40 fps at best.

Also, before i updated something on my laptop, it would show "AMD Radeon" or something I don't remember exactly what it was called as a choice, now it only shows Default hardware device, Reference Device, and Microsoft Basic Render Driver twice.

Sometimes PCSX2 would crash. I'm not sure if all this is from my excessive use of using my laptop to play KH2 FM or if something happened.

I have PCSX2 1.2.1 (r5875)
Running on Windows 10
AMD A8-5545M APU with Radeon HD Graphics (4 CPUs) ~1.7GHz
          8.00 GB RAM

Sorry if this was cringy, I'm not very tech savvy

What happened to the Nvidia HW Hack?

Because it fixed problems I had with many games (the screen flickering in and out of resolution).

Has it been renamed to something else or something? I've got the problem again and all. Well, at least in DX mode. But in OGL mode I get crashes and the subtitle text has lines around it. This is all going on in the original Kingdom Hearts.

Been a long time since I've asked - OpenGL or DX11?

It's been a really long time since I've asked I think, I can't find recent threads on it either. Is DirectX still preferred over OpenGL? I know it was way back in the day. But I also know that Dolphin prefers OGL.

I'm intending to do recording ya see, so I want all the graphics emulated, but at the fastest rate possible because I'm recording at the same time.

The way I'm running it is custom res - 1920x1080, and that's all the custom settings I've got, if that's relevant. And Windows 8.1

By the way, nice new site design. You guys had the same one for like 7 years, haha.

Is there any chance that we can get Neo Contra working soon?

First post and it's a request thread. I apologize. I browsed and I didn't see a sticky thread regarding requests. I think I registered here a million years ago but I can't remember under what username or former email address. Plus I haven't been keeping up to date with PCSX2 in a very long time. But now that I have a rig that can handle PCSX2 I thought I'd ask.

Any idea when a fix for Neo Contra may be coming? It seems to be an issue with the sound driver (though I'm not a programmer but the error messages seem to imply it). It really sucks because it's one of the more interesting Contra titles and is quite a bit better than Shattered Soldier.

Had a blast playing God Hand on PCSX2, my thank you to the developers for all of their hard work.

Input Issues

I'm trying to play Def Jam Fight for New York using an XBox One controller and the input not only lags but requires me to press and hold down the button before it will respond. When the response does come it's recognizing that the button was held down and causing the cursor to scroll for several seconds after I have let the button go. A normal press of the button does nothing at all. Needless to say, this makes even inputting a name for story mode impossible.

My system specs are:

Operating System =  Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Physical RAM     =  8090 MB
CPU name         =  AMD FX™-8350 Eight-Core Processor
Vendor/Model     =  AuthenticAMD (stepping 00)
CPU speed        =  4.012 ghz (8 logical threads)
x86PType         =  Standard OEM
x86Flags         =  178bfbff 3e98320b

So hardware wise I shouldn't have an issue unless something turns out to be incompatible.

Settings wise I'm running PCSX2 using the default plugins and settings and with the correct bios for the game. My frame rates are in the low millions on all screens with EE at around 50% and GS at 10-12%. I haven't had this issue with any emulators before and am a bit confused as to what is happening here.

If you need screenshots or more info let me know.

EDIT: I should also add that the controller works normally when used with other games such as the PC versions of Valkyria Chronicles or FF:ARR.

Memory could not be read error

I am trying to play MLB Power Pros 2008, and I keep getting an error that says

"The instruction at 0x0910cbe0 referenced memory at 0x00004240. The memory could not be read."

The game will run smoothly at 60 fps for about 5 minutes, then the sound starts to get choppy, then it freezes and brings up the error. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

I need an AIO water cooler with a VERY small CPU block

Okay. So finally I THOUGHT I had all the parts needed to assemble 3770k rig. And I did, but one problem. First, this is an image of the model of mobo I am using:

ASUS P8Z77-I DELUXE

See those caps I marked with RED? They are the issue. They stand about 4mm higher than the CPU retention plate. They get in the way of my cooler. With a normal install I hit 100C under load at stock speeds. With a finagled install the best I can do it I top out at 85C - with no overclock. Even with finagled install, only about 50% of the IHS is contacting the block, as the other half is lifted up by stupid caps.

My current cooler is a Seidon 120v. It has a square block that measures 70mm on all sides. Which is too big as we've established. I've taken some measurements, and the block cannot be larger than 55mm for it to fit.  The smallest Nobbs and I found so far is 65mm

It also has to be water. My vertical clearance is only 50mm as this is Mini ITX and the PSU ultimately mounts directly above the CPU socket -.-

It's a nightmare layout. My only hope now is that there is SOME effective way to cool this, short of a custom loop(which is what Robbie had on it btw). I'm already invested in the mobo(Recall I had to replace the former bent pin one) at this point. So basically it's "find a small enough cooler, or else just have a very hot stock 3770k"

So, any ideas?

Metal Gear Solid 3 frame rate issues

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a solution to the issue I am having running Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Right now, I can't get over 20 fps when I play the game. All the other games run fine with the exception of this game. My specs are Windows 10, GTX 760 2GB, 12 GB of ram, AMD FX 8320 3.5 GHZ. If there are any recommended configurations, pictures would help as well.
